BALAN KANAWA
The
ward head of Balankanawa, Alh. Musa Wakili has decried the re-surfacing of
Hippopotamus in three communities in the area.

written to the Chairman
care-taker committee Kirfi local government, Alh. Garba Sabo Bara, through the District head of Beni Alh. Barau Sule Beni complaining
on the re-emergence of the mysterious animals in the area.

He said, the animals are threatening
the lives and properties of people in three communities which are Balaru, Jolte
and Dayubu.
Alh. Musa Wakili, appealed to the state as well as the local
government to intervene before its results to lost of lives and properties in
the area.
In his response, the chairman
care-taker committee Kirfi local government, Alh. Garba Sabo Bara assured the
people of the area of his council readiness to protect the lives and properties
of people in the area.
He said, the local government will join
forces with the state government to evacuate the mysterious animals to either
Yankari game reserve or Kafin Zaki Dam for safety.

Alh. Garba Sabo said, report have indicated
that, the animals lives in the area for more than forty years, but no reports
on any form of attacks against human in the area.
“After years of disappearance of the
animals in the area, now they are re-surfacing again” he said.
He said, the local government will not
relent in its determination to evacuate the animals from the area before they
multiply in number as one of the animals is pregnant.
