The Bauchi State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety
Commission (FRSC) Mr Sunday Henry Olatunji yesterday confirmed the death of
seven persons in accident near Bara village in Kirfi LGA of Bauchi State along
the Bauchi-Gombe federal highway.

He said: “Among the 12 persons in the auto crash, seven were
confirmed dead while five sustained injuries. Among the dead were three adult
males, two male children and two female children. The five injured are
men”.
Mr Olatunji said his officers rushed to the scene shortly
after it happened and attributed it to the driver of the Mitsubish bus
who was over-speeding.
He said all the twelve victims of the crash, including the
corpses of the seven persons were conveyed to the Federal Medical Centre in
Gombe and appealed to motorists to observe traffic rules and regulations,
especially during the celebrations.
Witnesses told newsmen that the accident occurred when a
commercial bus veered off the road and hit an articulated truck around 12.30pm.
The brown 18 seater commercial Mitsubishi bus with registration number AJ 779
TRN lost control around a sharp bend close to Bara village and rammed into a
dark blue articulated truck with registration number B8 79 MU parked by the
roadside.
