LEADS
An appealed has been made to three tiers of government to
provide job opportunities to the disabled persons to enable them live a useful life.
The secretary Nigeria Association of the Disabled kirfi
local government chapter, comrade Umar A. Umar (Danruwatan Cheledi) disclosed this
during LEAD Nigeria’s meeting with representative of the 13 wards of kirfi
local government at the council’s chamber.
Comrade Umar A. Umar said, both government and community
members isolate the members of the association in all developmental programmes.
He urged them to open a skill acquisition centers for the
disabled as well as awarding scholarships to the disabled to further their
education.

The director Budget and Economic planning, kirfi local government represented
by Alh. Isah Umar Badara stated some priority needs of the wards of the local
government to be included in the 2014 financial budget, to include construction
of feeder roads, dispensaries and Maternity clinics, rural electrification,
portable drinking water, primary schools classroom blocks, staff quarters, vet
nary clinic, culverts, fencing of schools, building of Islamiyya schools
provision of women development centers, construction of Dam, grave yard among
others.
Ealier, the LEAD coordinator Kirfi local government, Hajiya
Mariya Alkasim said, each of the 13 wards have presented Five priority areas of
development they want government to execute which were base on their felt
needs.
Hajiya Mariya Alkasim said, LEAD’s aim is to enlighten the
general public on how to unearth their problems and design modalities for
solving the problems through joint efforts.
Commenting, Idin Taure, a member of GIWO Development
Association, complained of imbalance in the process followed in the
distribution of needs.
The care-taker committee chairman, Kirfi local government
represented by the Director Works department of the local government, Alh.
Abdullahi Alh. Tata urged the participants to make use of what has been
discussed effectively for the development of their areas.
Abdullahin Alh. Tata urge the participant to work hand in
hand to move their communities forward.
In his remark, the village head of Badara Alh. Usman Aliyu
thanked LEAD for its intervention in major problems affecting rural areas.
Alh. Usman Aliyu said, the process followed in distributing
then people felt-needs were done democratically.
He prayed for the success of LEAD programmes that are always
directed towards improving the lives of the people in rural areas.
