BACATMA
The
prevalence of HIV AIDS in the state has been reduced to less than one
percent with the ongoing campaign on the prevention of the deadly
disease by relevant agencies in the state.
The
co’ordinator HIV Aids control in the State Agency for the control of
Aids, Tuberculosis, Leprosy and Malaria ( BACATMA), Malam Danladi Abdu
Muhammed, gave the statistics at the monthly lecture organized by the
management of the Bauchi Radio Corporation, which took place today at
the BRC mosque.
This
month’s lecture, organized by the management of the BRC in conjunction
with the state Shari’ah Commission, had in attendance, representatives
of various Islamic organizations in the state.
Malam
Danladi Abdu Muhammad said since assumed office in 2007, BACATMA has
received tremendous support from the government of Malam Isa Yuguda in
the areas of logistics and manpower.
According
to him, 124 HIV screening centres have been opened in different parts
of the state while 74 women HIV screening centres were established to
cater for the need of women in the state.
He
said with the support, Bauchi state has been classified as the
thirty-third in terms of HIV/AIDS prevalence in the country which he
said, was recorded because of the support from the state government.
Malam
Danladi Abdu, assures pregnant mothers with HIV/AIDS virus that they
can give birth to HIV Aids free child once they visit the hospital.
In
his presentation, Malam Ahmad Tijjani Sa’idu from the state Shari’ah
Commission, said Islam approves immunization against diseases.
Malam
Ahmad Tijjani called on the people of the state to cooperate with
BACATMA and other relevant agencies in the fight against killer diseases
from the state.
According
to him, the commission has mapped out strategies in educating the
people particularly parents on their responsibly towards protecting
their wards from disease.
Speaking
earlier, the chairman of the occasion and District Head of Bakaro Alh.
Nuru Adamu Jumba, commended the foresight of the BRC for organizing the
lecture which he observed, will go along way towards sensitizing the
public on various aspects of life.

Nuru Adamu Jumba who is the Ciroman Bauchi, advised the people to
always stay in clean environment and eat clean food to avert contact
with diseases.
In
a vote of thanks, the chairman BRC mosque committee and Director in
charge of Programmes Directorate Malam Sagir Adamu, thanked the
participants and prayed Allah to reward them.
