CHAIRMAN
Residents in Kirfi local government have been urged to embark on a thorough environmental sanitation to avert the possible outbreak of Cholera in the area.

The Chairman care-taker committee Kirfi local government, Alh. Garba Sabo Bara made the call at the debriefing of the just concluded polio immunization exercise in the area held at the cold chain office in Kirfi.

Alh. Garba Sabo said, residents in the area should conduct a massive environmental sanitation of their environments as well as keep their toilets and bath rooms clean to avert the outbreak of diseases in the area.

He said, cholera is a life threatening diseases that are primarily transmitted by drinking water or eating food that has been contaminated by the feces of an infected person.

He said, Cholera may be a life threatening, prevention of the diseases is normally straightforward if proper sanitation practice are followed.

Alh. Garba Sabo said, effective sanitation practice, if instituted and adhered to in time, are usually sufficient to stop the epidemic.

He appealed to residents in the area to keep their environments hygienic to avert the outbreak of the disease in the area.

He urged environmental sanitation officers in the area to embark on house to house sanitation exercise to ensure that residents in area keep their environment tidy.

Meanwhile, in a similar development, the chairman care-taker committee Kirfi local government, Alh. Garba Sabo Bara expresses satisfaction with the success recorded so far in the just concluded polio immunization exercise in the area.

Alh. Garba Sabo said, although there was inadequate vaccine, but the exercise recorded success.

He commended the effort of the health focal persons for working tirelessly toward ensuring the success of the exercise in the area.
