NEWS: FULANI HERDSMEN

Fulani herdsmen in Jama’are local government area have been told to give their maximum support and cooperation, toward the successful conduct of cattle vaccination in the area.
The state commissioner of the ministry of animal resources and nomadic resettlement, Alhaji Abdulkadir Ibrahim Mohammad made the call  at a flag-off ceremony of annual animal vaccination campaign, held at Gongo-Junction of the local government.
Alhaji Abdulkadir Ibrahim Mohammed, who described the importance of vaccination in improving the health condition of the cattle, also called on them to avails themselves with the opportunity, saying  prevention is better than cure.
Represented by the deputy director veterinary services, Dr. Ibrahim Bello, the commissioner stated that farming and rearing of animals has been observed as the pride of the northern region, hence the need for the people to attach much priority to it.
He commended the Jama’are local government council, for being the first to flag-off the exercise, week after it was inaugurated by the state governor.
In his speech at the occasion, the chairman caretaker committee Jama’are local government, Alhaji Adamu Aliyu Sulaiman explained that, the importance of livestock cannot be over emphasized; adding that, the control and prevention of animal diseases should not be considered as a waste but an investment.
Alhaji Adamu Aliyu Sulaiman who was represented by his deputy, Alhaji Sani Abubakar Hanafari, said that the sum of two hundred and fifty thousand naira was approved by the council, to complement the state government’s effort toward boosting livestock production in the area.
He therefore commended the state government under the Yuguda-led administration, for its commitments in meeting the yearnings and aspiration of the citizenry.

The chairman however called on traditional rulers and other stakeholders to give their maximum support and cooperation as usual, to ensure a hitch-free vaccination exercise in the area.

Stakeholders on ward delineation and polling units in Jama’are local government area have been enjoined to give their maximum co-operation for the successful conduct of the exercise.
The Chairman Caretaker committee of the local council, Alhaji Adamu Aliyu Sulaiman gave the advice during an interactive session with stakeholders in Jama’are.
Alhaji Adamu Aliyu Sulaiman said the purpose of co-opting the stakeholders was to identify the way forward on the issue of ward delineation and the creation of additional polling units in the area.
The Chairman, who was represented by his deputy Alhaji Sani Abubakar Hanafari, however stated that the decision to create additional polling units was informed by the move of the national and state independent electoral commissions to ensure even development of the affected areas.
In his contribution, the representative of state independent electoral commission (SINEC), Alhaji Ahmed Gidado Mu’azu, said ward delineation and polling units was conducted after each and every ten years due to increase in population and birth rate.
Alhaji Ahmed Gdado Mu’azu therefore advised all stakeholders in the area to avails themselves with the opportunity and to shun their differences for the development of their respective communities.
He added that each polling unit that has the population of over five hundred voters, should request for additional polling unit, and stressed the need for traditional rulers and other stakeholders, to co-operate in order to achieve the set objectives.
 In a vote of thanks, the Emir of Jama’are Alhaji Dr Ahmad Muhammad Wabi the third, represented by the District Head of Dogon Jeji Alhaji Muhammadu Baba Jarma, expressed delight for the meeting and assured the full support of the traditional rulers toward ensuring the success of the exercise in the area.
