KATAGUM
About one hundred women are to benefit from a one year free health care services programme, sponsored by a concern citizen in Katagum local government area.
Speaking at a ceremony organized to launch the programme in Azare the headquarters of the local government, the sponsor of the programme Alhaji Ghali Ma'aji Abdulhamid the Ma'aji of Madangala, said that the move was aimed at paying his society back, in a positive ways in view of the prevailing health care needed of the community.
Alhaji Ghali Ma'aji Abdulhamid explained that the beneficiaries willaccess the services at federal medical centre Azare.
He however stated that the programme was kick started with one hundred women, adding that, in the next few months they will engage more women and children under the age of five, to reach up-to five hundred beneficiaries.
The Ma'aji of Madangala therefore restates his commitment to provide additional assistance in the areas of agriculture, health and education, for the overall development of the society.
He advised parents to avoid engaging their children in political thuggery, as this contributes a lot towards bringing setback and under-development to the country.
In his speech at the occasion, the head of Bauchi Office of health care international, Pharmacist Khalid Kassim, said that the people of the state have the attitude of kindness and hospitality, which gave his organization courage to ensure the sustenance of free health care services in the state.
Pharmacist Khalid Kassim explained that Bauchi state is among the first states all over the country that sponsored free health care services to the civil servants. 
He said that, the major challenges being faced by some patients is lack of money to cater for their health problems, and described the programme as a welcome development as the beneficiaries will anytime visit hospital and get access to health care services free of charge.
Earlier, the chairman of the occasion, who is also head of personnel of the Federal Medical Centre Azare, Alhaji Bakari Uba, lauded the efforts of Alhaji Ghali Ma'aji Abdulhamid for sponsoring the programme, and called on other well meaning individuals to emulate.
Alhaji Bakari Uba also advocated on the need for parents to allow their children to study-science related courses, as it will assist toward achieving the much needed qualitative health care delivery.
He also called on the beneficiaries to reciprocate the gesture, by availing themselves with the opportunity.
One of the beneficiaries Malama Iyallu Abdullahi Gadau, expressed gratitude to the sponsor of the programme, and called on other well to do individuals in the area to emulate.
Our reporter  who attended the occasion, reports that Alhaji Ghali Ma'aji Abdulhamid, signed a memorandum of understanding with the health care international for the smooth implementation of the programme.
