WORKSHOP
The National Malaria
Eradication Programme has organized a three days workshop on the use of Mosquito
nets and insecticides for health workers in Kirfi local government.
The Liaison officer of the
National Malaria Eradication Programme, Mr. Joseph Anidi said, the aim of the
workshop is to educate the health workers on the use of insecticides as well as
mosquitoe net on the ongoing fight against malaria.
Mr. Anidi said, malaria
is a life threatening diseases caused by parasites which is transmitted to
human by the Anophels mosquitoes.
He said, the key intervention
to control malaria includes prompt and effective treatment with Artemisinin-based
combination therapies, use of insecticides nets by people at risk; and indoor
residual spraying with insecticides to control the vector mosquitoes.
He said, Today’s
environment of increased accountability and accelerated national action indeed
requires credible evidence of progress toward mitigating the disease, along
with efforts to make findings available widely.
Mr. Joseph therefore
urged the participants to give them maximum cooperation to ensure the success
of the training.
Earlier, the Chairman
Care-Taker committee Kirfi local government Alh. Garba Sabo Bara represented by
the Director Education and Social Development Malam Murtala Abdullahi urged the
participants to cooperate with the facilitators to ensure the success of the
training.
Malam Murtala commended
the Federal as well as the Bauchi State government in their effort in
eradicating malaria and other diseases in the area.
